The scope of its activity includes the following:
1. Showing individuals or groups of visitors around the Museum
2. Preparing and conducting lessons about the Museum.
3. Organizing lectures and talks in the Museum and at schools.
4. Organizing contests concerning currently displayed exhibitions.
5. Organizing chamber concerts for children and the youth.
6. Preparing temporary exhibitions, either independently or in cooperation
with other departments.
7. Spreading information concerning the Museum; cooperation with
the media, schools, travel agencies, etc.
8. Running a library, granting the residents of Konin access to it.
9. Coordinating publishing activity /collecting materials from other
departments, editing, proofreading, etc./.
The Library - it houses a collection of books related by theme
to the collections of the exhibits and scientific research carried
out by the Museum. The book collection covers the following fields:
archeology, nature, ethnography, history, arts and crafts, numismatics
and phaleristics, the history of technology, and preservation of historical
monuments and buildings.
The most precious collection of the Museum, made up of over 300 titles
relating to the 1863 January Uprising, comes from Ludwik Waszkiewicz's
collection. It includes the original file created by the owner with
names of over 400 participants of the January Uprising from the Łódź
territory as well as an album with original photographs of the insurgents.
The catalogued book collection of the museum (catalogues: alphabetical,
departmental, of magazines) comprises more than 12,000 titles.
The library houses all scripts, projects and documentation concerning
the exhibitions held by the Museum. Moreover, it runs a photo archive
serving as the documentation of the collections, museum events, archeological,
ethnographic, and conservation research works, historical buildings
and monuments of the Konin region, events in the town.
The museum library also has a collection of music tapes, records,
and video tapes. Important elements of the library collections are
maps, plans, and posters.
The library exchanges its own publications with other museums in Poland
and abroad. The collections are available in the reading room and
lent to be used outside the museum.
